Caltrain Board Elects Officers, Welcomes New Member
The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board, which owns and operates Caltrain, elected officers and welcomed a new board member at its meeting today.
The Board of Directors unanimously elected San Mateo County Board of Supervisor Adrienne Tissier, who represents the San Mateo County Transit District on the board, chair. Santa Clara County Board of Supervisor Ken Yeager, representing the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, was elected vice chair.
The board also welcomed Malia Cohen at its meeting. San Francisco County Board of Supervisor Cohen represents the City and County of San Francisco on the board, replacing San Francisco County Board of Supervisor Sean Elsbernd.
The Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board has nine members, with three representatives from each of the three counties through which the rail service operates – San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara. The board meets the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos, two blocks from the train station. Caltrain is a commuter rail line operating between San Francisco and San Jose, with commute service to Gilroy. Average weekday ridership on the mix of 86 local, limited and express weekday trains is 42,000. Local, hourly service is provided on Saturdays and Sundays.
