Take Transit to Streets Alive Events

Take Transit to Streets Alive Events

On Sunday, May 1, cities across San Mateo County will transform public streets into car-free outdoor spaces for people to walk, bike, run, roll, play and enjoy being active and healthy.

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Streets Alive San Mateo County will close local streets and highlight public places such as parks, plazas and trails as a way to promote healthy outdoor activity for a healthy future. People will have the opportunity to be active, rediscover their neighborhoods, visit other communities and experience the freedom of safe, car-free spaces.

And, SamTrans and Caltrain can be the perfect way to get to the free and low-cost activities. Both bus routes and Caltrain stations are within walking distance of many events. Bikes are allowed on all SamTrans buses and Caltrain. SamTrans buses can carry two bikes on racks located on the front of the bus and Caltrain can carry at least 40 bikes in designated cars. For information on how to bring bikes on SamTrans buses click here and for Caltrain click here.

Cities participating in the free family events include: Belmont, Brisbane, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Millbrae, the North Fair Oaks community of Redwood City, San Bruno, San Mateo and South San Francisco.
