SamTrans & Caltrain Customer Videos Help Tell Customers’ Stories

The final video of the San Mateo County Transit District’s three-video project in support of the American Public Transportation Association “Telling Our Story” initiative has been completed.

APTA is an organization that is the leading force in advancing public transportation in the United States, as well as Canada, through advocacy, innovation and information sharing. Its members are public organizations that are engaged in the areas of bus, paratransit, light rail, commuter rail and subways.

The APTA initiative was created to communicate the importance of public transportation to our communities and how it benefits riders and non-riders alike. The message is that investing in transportation creates jobs, strengthens the economy, reduces dependence on oil, protects the environment and provides a better quality of life.

The three videos are about two minutes in duration and focus on bus and train commuters, youth riders and persons with disabilities. The final video, which highlights customers with disabilities and the organizations that support them, features two local service agencies: the Kainos Home and Training Center in Redwood City and the San Carlos Adult Day Services in San Carlos. The video also features Jim Engvall, a client who uses Redi-Wheels paratransit program when he is unable to ride fixed-route bus service and the train.
