Make it Green: Take Transit to Maker Faire

Make it Green: Take Transit to Maker Faire

If you haven’t quite finished your solar human-hybrid vehicle, you can still reduce your carbon footprint by taking transit to the Maker Faire at the San Mateo County Event Center May 30 and 31.

Not your father’s science fair, the Maker Faire showcases individual creativity and grassroots innovation in the largest festival devoted to DIY culture and technology in the country. Food and live entertainment will be presented along with demonstrations in everything from 3-D photography to embroidery.

Caltrain offers hourly service on Saturdays and Sundays, making all local weekend stops between San Jose and San Francisco. A free shuttle to the event will operate every 20 minutes from the Hayward Park Caltrain Station. Or, faire-goers can walk to the Expo Center from the Hillsdale Caltrain Station.

SamTrans Routes 390 and 391 stop at El Camino Real and 25th Avenue, two blocks from the entrance to the Event Center. And, SamTrans Route 292 serves stops at the west entrance to the center.

To plan your trip, call the Customer Service Center at 1-800-660-4287.
