Come One, Come All to the Holiday Transit Toy Drive Celebration

Help put a smile on a child’s face this holiday season by joining the San Mateo County Transit District for a Transit Toy Drive Celebration from 5 p.m. to

6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the front plaza and lobby area of the District’s headquarters located at 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos.

The District, which has been hosting the toy drive since Nov. 8, provides SamTrans bus service and Caltrain commuter rail service throughout the Peninsula and greater Bay Area.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy or book for the Salvation Army and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Program.

Santa will work with the Salvation Army and the Marines to distribute the toys to good little boys and girls in need this holiday season.

Those in attendance will be treated to holiday tunes from the West Bay Community Band. Children and their families will have the opportunity to mingle with Santa and Mrs. Claus along with some of their North Pole friends, including Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman. Cookies and cupcakes provided by Raison d’Etre Bakery will be served by Santa’s helpers along with hot chocolate. The SamTrans mini-bus also will be on display.

After dropping by the Transit Toy Drive Celebration, people are encouraged to attend the Night of Holiday Lights, Downtown Laurel Street event hosted by the City of San Carlos and San Carlos Chamber of Commerce. These festivities will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., just down the street from the Transit District.
