Caltrain Riders in Luck March 17

Go green this St. Patrick’s Day by taking Caltrain to San Francisco Saturday, March 17. Caltrain riders not only reduce their carbon footprint but avoid city traffic jams and expensive parking fees when they take the train.

This year, The City is hosting its 161st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and a doubleheader soccer match.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade starts at 11:30 a.m. at Second and Market streets in downtown San Francisco. Caltrain riders can take the train to the final San Francisco stop at Fourth and King streets. From there, simply cross the street and board Muni’s N-Judah or T-Third Metro Service and get off at the Montgomery Street Muni station, which is the start of the parade route. People also can take Muni to the all-day St. Patrick’s Day Festival, which will be held at Civic Center Plaza.

Soccer fans can walk from the San Francisco station to AT&T Park to see Mexico and Senegal square off in one of their final tests before their Olympic qualifying matches. The match begins at 4:30 p.m. Prior to that match, the San Jose Earthquakes will face the Houston Dynamo in a regular-season Major League Soccer contest at 2 p.m.

Caltrain offers hourly service on weekends plus two round-trip Baby Bullet express trains. The last Saturday train leaves San Francisco at 12:01 a.m. and makes all weekend local stops to San Jose. Caltrain does not allow alcohol on trains after 9 p.m. following a special event. Disruptive passengers will be asked to detrain.
