Caltrain Popular with Giants Fans

The numbers don’t lie – Giants fans love Caltrain. In Fiscal Year 2012, 545,000 fans took Caltrain to AT&T Park. Since Caltrain’s San Francisco Terminal at Fourth and King streets is just one block from AT&T Park, riding the train is part of the fun.

After the evening and weekend games, two special trains depart San Francisco for the return trip. An express train to San Carlos leaves approximately 15 minutes after the last out, or when full, and then makes all local stops after San Carlos to the San Jose Diridon station. The second train departs San Francisco 25 minutes after the game, or when full, and serves all local stops to San Jose Diridon.

A brief video has been created to show fans what they need to know to take the train to the games. It covers parking, paying fares, onboard etiquette and post-game service. This video is available at www.caltrain.com/sfgiants.

Caltrain reminds fans to drink responsibly and to remember that open alcoholic beverages are not allowed on game day trains beginning at 9 p.m.

Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold on board trains but can be purchased at vending machines at the stations. To save time on the return trip, fans are encouraged to buy a Day Pass. Clipper card users (e-cash and 8-ride tickets) are reminded to tag on and tag off.

Caltrain baseball service brochures are available on trains or can be viewed at www.caltrain.com/sfgiants. For fare and schedule information, visit www.caltrain.com or call 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448)
