Caltrain Holiday Schedules and Free Rides on New Year’s Eve
Caltrain Holiday Schedules and Free Rides on New Year’s Eve
Despite the season, Caltrain doesn’t take a holiday. In fact, the agency is ramping up to provide extra train service for homeward-bound New Year’s revelers.
Trains will run on a weekday schedule on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Caltrain will operate a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Sunday schedule offers 28 hourly trains operating between San Francisco and San Jose.
New Year’s Eve, Caltrain will offer free rides after 11 p.m. to encourage New Year’s Eve partygoers to use the train as their designated driver. And to accommodate those who want to keep partying until the end, Caltrain will add four post-midnight, southbound trains to its regular holiday schedule, Jan. 1. These extra trains will depart the San Francisco station at 12:45 a.m., 1:15 a.m., 1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m., making all local weekday stops to the San Jose Diridon station.
Caltrain does not allow open alcohol containers on trains after 9 p.m. following special events. Disruptive passengers will be asked to detrain. For more information on fares and schedules, call 1.800.660.4287 (TTY 650.508.6448).
