Caltrain Gears Up for Big Game Nov. 21
Few things on the Peninsula have been around as long as Caltrain – one of the closest competitors is the Big Game. Caltrain will provide special service to the 112th game when Stanford faces University of California, Berkeley Nov. 21.
Two special limited-stop trains will leave San Francisco in plenty of time to meet friends at tailgate parties before the 4:30 p.m. kickoff. Fans are urged to check the train schedule and plan their trip accordingly. The first train will leave San Francisco at 2:02 p.m. and the second train will leave at 2:46 p.m.
Regular service trains will begin stopping at the stadium train station, located above Embarcadero Road at Alma Street in Palo Alto, a short walk from the stadium, approximately two hours before game time. All Saturday trains also serve the Palo Alto station, which is located one-half mile north of the stadium station.
East Bay Bears fans won’t be left on the sidelines – the Millbrae Intermodal Station offers a cross-platform connection between Caltrain and BART. Trains also will serve the Hillsdale station, which has plenty of parking.
Northbound, a regularly scheduled train will stop at the stadium station in the fourth quarter for fans needing to leave early. Extra service to the stadium station will leave the Stanford Stadium stop immediately after the conclusion of the game, with regular trains stopping there for two hours.
Since there are no ticket vending machines at the Stanford station, riders are advised to purchase a Caltrain Day Pass at their departure station before boarding the train to go to the game. Caltrain is a proof of payment system and passengers are required to have valid tickets while onboard.
Passengers should call Caltrain at 1.800.660.4287 or visit www.caltrain.com for service and train fare information. People with hearing impairments may call (TTY only) 650.508.6448.
