Construction
San Bruno Grade Separation Project
Work will continue round the clock as crews make final preparations to move trains to temporary train tracks this weekend, Jan. 14 - 15.
Streets around the construction site will be closed to allow for the final construction of the temporary tracks. Trains will use these temporary tracks, known as a “shoofly” in railroad terminology, during the construction of the grade separation.

Signs and personnel will direct pedestrians and vehicles to detours on nearby streets.
From 8 p.m., Friday Jan. 13 through Sunday, Jan. 15, all trains at the San Bruno station will use a single track.
Beginning at 8 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, until the last train on Saturday, Jan. 14, north- and southbound passengers will use the southbound platform only.
Sunday, Jan. 15, north- and southbound passengers will use the northbound platform only. Service will return to normal on Monday, Jan. 16.
Conductors on board the train and ambassadors at the station will direct passengers to the correct platform.
The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus avenues. A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue.
San Jose Diridon and Santa Clara Stations Improvement Project
Monday, Jan. 16 to Friday, Jan. 20, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., crews will continue work on the final “punch list” of items for the San Jose Diridon and Santa Clara Stations Improvements Project. Additional night work will occur at the San Jose Diridon station between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Wednesday, Jan. 18 to Friday, Jan. 20.
At the Santa Clara station a new southbound platform allows two trains to pass through the station at the same time, eliminating a bottleneck in the Caltrain system. The new pedestrian underpass also improves safety at the station.
In San Jose, two new platforms and four new tracks will improve train movement at this busy station that also serves ACE, Amtrak, Capitol Corridor and Union Pacific trains.

Maintenance
Caltrain will perform routine maintenance at several locations next week. To avoid delays to passengers, the work will take place Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be some construction noise from equipment used to accomplish the work, but crews will work as quietly as possible.
