Caltrain Construction and Maintenance: Aug. 11 to Aug. 17, 2012
Construction
San Bruno Grade Separation Project
Pile driving is scheduled to continue this week. Pile driving will be limited to weekday daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The work will involve excavation, drilling and machines that hammer or drive columns into the ground. A total of 100 piles will be driven into the ground over the course of three weeks. At times, noise levels could be as high as 75 decibels, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Other work, which includes digging with a backhoe and mini-excavator, will be done in the daytime from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crews will excavate, grade, install utility infrastructure, and pour concrete. Crews will use medium and heavy duty diesel vehicles to transport dirt and concrete.
Night work will occur from Saturday, Aug. 11, through Friday, Aug. 17, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. Crews will excavate, place steel bridge structures and remove shoring.
The $147 million project will elevate the Caltrain tracks above three existing at-grade street crossings at San Bruno, San Mateo and Angus Avenues. A new elevated Caltrain station between San Bruno and San Mateo Avenues will replace the station at Sylvan Avenue.
