Caltrain Comes in First in the Race to Bay to Breakers
Runners going to the Bay to Breakers race Sunday, May 17, can conserve their energy by taking Caltrain to San Francisco.
Three special northbound express trains will provide service to the race. The first train will depart the Santa Clara Caltrain Station at 5:56 a.m.; the second one will depart the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station at 6:19 a.m. and the third train will depart the San Jose Diridon station at 6:30 a.m. Each will only stop at a limited number of stations and all trains will arrive in San Francisco by 7:30 a.m.
The starting line is about 1.4 miles from the San Francisco Caltrain Station at Fourth and King streets. Participants can walk to the starting line or take Muni light rail lines N-Judah or T-Third. After the race, trains depart from San Francisco hourly at 15 minutes after the hour until 9:15 p.m.
Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system. One-way tickets, Day passes or 8-ride tickets can be purchased at Ticket Vending Machines at the stations before boarding.
