Caltrain Adjusts Schedule/Trains with Two Bike Cars
Beginning Monday, Aug. 31, Caltrain will adjust its schedule and change the trains equipped with two bike cars. The schedule change is due to the elimination of eight midday trains to close a $2.7 million budget gap.
Caltrain will provide 34 of 90 weekday trains with two bike cars. The following trains will have two bike cars:
Northbound trains
103, 207, 211, 217, 231, 135, 143, 155, 261 , 267 , 373, 277 , 379, 287 , 189, 193, 197
Southbound trains
210 , 312 , 216 , 220, 228, 230 , 134 , 158 , 362 , 264 , 266 , 372 , 378 , 386 , 288, 194, 198
A project to increase the on-board bike capacity on Caltrain gallery cars from 32 bike slots to 40 and on the newer Bombardier cars from 16 to 24 is currently underway. Work on the gallery cars has been completed and work on the Bombardier cars is expected to be completed by the end of October. The project will increase bike capacity on Caltrain about 28 percent.
