Bike Riders Take Transit to New Heights June 16
Saturday, June 16, an intrepid group of bikers will ride to the top of the Bay Area’s three highest peaks and take transit to the base of each one. The feat showcases the Bay Area’s natural resources and the variety of public transportation available in the area.
The group of experienced riders will ride up Mt. Hamilton, Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo in one day. The 17-hour journey includes 125 miles of riding and 12,000 feet of elevation gain. Twenty-five riders will attempt all three peaks and another 10 will ride to the top of Mt. Tamalpais and Mt. Diablo.
The riders plan to board Caltrain #425 which departs the San Jose Diridon Station at 9:00 a.m. They also will ride Golden Gate Ferry and BART.
The public is invited to cheer the riders on by joining them as they ride public transportation, rooting for them along the way or by taking public transit to a park or open space.
